You Can Now Post to Instagram from your Computer
Instagram is designed to be used only by phones, but if that doesn’t work for you, here are a few steps for uploading directly from your pc to Instagram without using a mobile.
Instagram changed their API to allow third-party apps to post on Instagram in some situations. For now, it only works for Instagram business accounts, and while it allows you to schedule your posts, not all of the usual Instagram features are available. Several social media management services like instazood offer this functionality now.
Here are a few ways to post from your PC directly to Instagram without using your phone:
With a Web Browser
Usually, when you open the Instagram site in your desktop, you get a version of the site that is stripped-down. It only lets you do some things such as commenting on photos, but it doesn’t allow you to create new posts.
Many of the latest browsers can be used to make the Instagram site assume you’re accessing it with a phone so that the posting function will be available. It’s called user agent spoofing.
Benefits of this method are that doesn’t require installing a third-party app or plugin, and it’s free. But there are also disadvantages, not all Instagram features are accessible through the website such as filters, tagging photos,multi-photo, and tagging photos posts. And while it’s pretty easy to do, it’s still not as simple as a third-party app like Instazood.
You can access the Instagram website with a standard web browser on a laptop or desktop in a stripped down version.
After logging into your Instagram account on a desktop browser, you can view, like, and even comment on photos, but one thing you can’t do is post new images.
Posting on Instagram using google chrome
Go to View > Developer > Developer Tools.
This will open the Developer Tools panel. Depending on the layout of your browser and screen, it might open in a separate tab or might be at the bottom of your active tab.
You will see a lot of menus, codes, and tabs. You can safely ignore almost all of it. Search for the small icon at the top left that shows a phone and tablet.
Click on it. The chrome window will now transform into the dimensions of a specific smartphone or tablet.
You can change the phone model by using the drop-down menu, although it really doesn’t matter too much which preset you use here as long as it’s a standard mobile device.
So now it looks just like the mobile app. And you can now see the camera icon on your screen. So you can use it just like the mobile version. Use the camera icon to create a new post by browsing for a new photo and uploading it.
